On the morning of November 13, 2024, Director Kao of MLNGT led students, along with faculty and students from the Department of Public Administration at National Taipei University, to visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The event began with a welcoming speech by Deputy Attache Chen from the Commission of Public Diplomacy, who introduced the Ministry's public diplomacy efforts, Taiwan's current diplomatic situation, and Minister Lin's comprehensive foreign policy. He also encouraged students to consider taking the Foreign Service Exam.
Following this, the group watched the National Day video for this year, and then Mr. Chen Ming-Jie, Section Chief of the International Cooperation and Economic Affairs Division, delivered a briefing on Taiwan's economic and trade diplomacy, focusing on its global vision and influence. Mr. Chen began by discussing the concept, importance, and goals of economic diplomacy, then analyzed the global economic and trade situation and Taiwan's role in it. He also explained new strategies for promoting economic diplomacy, such as Taiwan's comprehensive foreign policy based on the principles of democracy, peace, and prosperity, which aims to build an "empire where the sun never sets" economically, and leverage Taiwan's strengths to strengthen relations with allied countries through the "Honor Alliance" program. Lastly, he introduced the Division’s duties and the pathways for students to participate in international affairs.
Mr. Chen actively engaged with the students, encouraging them to think critically. At the end of the event, he, along with female colleagues from the Ministry, shared their personal experiences and insights on the considerations and mindset involved in choosing a career in diplomacy.
